Tory backbencher warned that Prime Minister Theresa May’s chief Europe advisor Oliver Robbins wants Britain to “stay in”

2-3-19     Prominent Tory backbencher warned that Prime Minister Theresa May’s chief Europe advisor Oliver Robbins wants Britain to “stay in” the European Union and remains to be a key influence on Brexit.
(shown) Ms. Esther McVey, as a former cabinet insider, was asked by LBC-caller Ben "who is influencing Theresa May to make key Brexit decisions.?"  In response, the Tory Brexiteer said:  “You have to look at the whole makeup of the Cabinet and the key positions in the Cabinet and you will see that they are people who all voted for Remain and are still sort of ardent Remainers – whether that is the Chancellor, whether that is David Liddington, down as the deputy prime minister, or whether that is Greg Clark.    So, those core cabinet ministers are and there is a big majority of Remainers in the cabinet.  And at the same time Olly Robbins, it would appear, has been her key adviser and very much about staying in. (shown) Oliver Robbins’s EU counterpart in Brussels is not Michel Barnier - the EU Brexit official we hear most about.  Rather it is Barnier's deputy,
(shown) Sabine Weyand, a German career civil servant who shines in a crowd of grey-suited Eurocrats thanks to her colourful cat's eye spectacles.
Those who know Robbins and Weyand talk of two of the sharpest minds around.  She was at Cambridge, he at Oxford, and together, across the negotiating table, they are moulding Brexit for their political masters above.
Descriptions of Mr Robbins's "huge brain", his "charm", his "intellect", his "unflappable and level-headed" nature, his "ability to absorb huge documents" are countered by those who think he represents a "clique" and is not collegiate.   https://news.sky.com/story/who-is-olly-robbins-the-civil-servant-on-whose-shoulders-brexit-deal-rests-11525917

Sabine Weyand’s U.K. counterpart is Oliver Robbins, Theresa May’s EU sherpa, who reports directly to the prime minister.  The pair — known as the “coordinators” — are the real engine room of the Brexit negotiations, officials from both sides of the table say.  That means Brexit Secretary David Davis’ role is sometimes reduced to that of political frontman, showing up in Brussels when there is a breakthrough to give a press conference.  https://www.politico.com/interactives/2018/politico-power-list-women-to-watch/sabine-weyand/

10-22-18  The unelected civil servant, Oliver Robbins, has previously expressed his admiration for the Soviet Union, noting that the left-wing tyranny’s Communist leaders transformed Russia “from a backward peasant autocracy, despised by the West, into a technological giant at whom the world cowered in fear for half a century”.  https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/10/22/compromised-mays-top-brexit-bureaucrat-offered-millions-big-banks/

Robbins joined HM Treasury in 1996 on graduation, serving as Head of Corporate and Private Finance from 2003 to 2006, and then briefly as Head of Defence, Diplomacy and Intelligence finance.  Robbins was appointed as Principal Private Secretary to  Prime Minister Blair at 10 Downing Street in 2006, ...A group of former military and intelligence officials associated with pro-Brexit pressure group Veterans for Britain including the former head of the Secret Intelligence ServiceRichard Dearlove said Robbins had "serious questions of improper conduct to answer" over defence and security co-operation between the UK and the EU after Brexit.[21]    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Robbins
