Vladimir Antyufeyev (Russian: Владимир Антюфéев), also known under the assumed name Vadim Shevtsov, was born on 19 February 1951 in Novosibirsk (Russian SSR). In 1974 he graduated from a police academy in Minsk (Bielorussian SSR).
In 1990-1991 he served as the commander of the Soviet OMON, a riot police and gendarmerie-like military force. He was one of the organizers of the attempt to overthrow the Latvian government in 1991. For this action the Latvian government accused Antyufeyev of "crimes against the state" in August 1991. He claims to have fled to Moscow two hours before he was to be arrested. He had been for many years wanted by the law enforcement agencies of Latvia and Moldova. However, he is no longer wanted by the Latvians due to their statute of limitations on the type of crime he was alleged to have committed.
In September 1991 he took part in the separatist movement fighting for the independence of Transnistria from Moldova. Adopting a new name, "Vadim Shevtsov," Antyufeyev created and headed the Ministry of State Security for the internationally unrecognized self-declared Republic of Transnistria. Shevtsov's real identity was revealed by Alexander Lebed in 1997. In 2003 Antyufeyev defended a doctoral thesis on "Russia's Geostrategy in the Southwest" at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
In 2004 the Prosecutor of Moldova indicted Antyufeyev for crimes against the Moldovan state and for freeing an officer accused of several assassinations. That same year, Vladimir Antyufeyev was declared persona non grata by the European Union….He claims to have worked on security in South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Crimea. In July 2014 he appeared in eastern Ukraine as the "deputy prime minister" of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The DPR head of the time, Alexander Borodai, met him in Moscow and put him in charge of state security (taking over from Alexander Khodakovsky) and courts of justice. http://www.hrwf.org/images/newsletters/europe_eurasia/russia.pdf

Oazu Nantoi, a Moldovan political analyst and expert on Transnistria, predicted Antyufeyev would aim to further destabilize Donetsk and impede Kiev’s efforts to regain control.
“He is no romantic who came to fire a few shots. He knows what his tasks are, just as he did in Transnistria,” he said. “Antyufeyev knows how to operate in such situations, how to suppress opposition and dissent . . . create an atmosphere of fear in which people will support any action by the separatists.” https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/07/28/world/politics-diplomacy-world/pushing-locals-aside-russians-take-top-rebel-posts-east-ukraine/#.XGXlWrQ-B0s

7-8-15 The Russian culture website Colta.ru this week published tell-all accounts by two people about their time working at VGTRK, Russia’s main state broadcasting company, whose networks included the national Rossia-1 channel. They describe how Kremlin officials dictated to VGTRK management and editors how news events should be covered, including whether incendiary buzzwords to discredit Ukraine should be deployed on air….
The August 6 report by Colta.ru did not identify the two sources by name. Their testimony was gathered by Aleksandr Orlov, a former deputy editor in chief with VGTRK’s 24-hour news network, Rossia-24. Orlov, who says he was fired two years ago for his support of Russian opposition leader Aleksei Navalny, is currently writing a book about Russian television. http://www.hrwf.org/images/newsletters/europe_eurasia/russia.pdf

Denis Sergeev (aka Sergei Fedotov) came from the Soviet backwaters – a small militarised town called Usharal in present-day Kazakhstan. He served in the army, in Novorossiysk on the Russian Black Sea coast, before being transferred to Moscow. There he enrolled in the “Conservatory”, an elite military academy feeding into the GRU.
Later he is tracked as a managing director of several sham companies and linked to a highly unusual Russian bank loan of more than $1m. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/denis-sergeev-skripal-suspect-third-russia-gru-salisbury-poison-attack-a8779631.html

According to Fontanka.Ru, Fedotov flew to the UK on a passport whose number differs by only a few digits from those used by the two GRU military intelligence agents officially wanted for the nerve agent attack.
It is almost certain Fedotov is not the passenger’s real name but an alias. No traces of Sergei Fedotov have been found in documentary databases or on social media. He has no property, vehicles or telephone numbers registered to his name in Russia, according to Fontanka….
Fedotov’s passport number differs by only a few digits. It is of the same ‘64 series’ linked to not only Chepiga and Mishkin but also to other suspected agents such as Col Eduard Shishmakov, who is accused of the failed plot to assassinate the prime minister of Montenegro before its referendum to join Nato.
According to Fontaka, Fedotov previously travelled to the UK in March 2016 and March 2017 and again this year. It said he also flew to the Czech Republic with Mishkin in January and February 2014 ahead of an apparent operation to monitor the movements of Col. Skripal, who at the time was said to be briefing Czech secret services. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10/10/revealed-name-third-russian-agent-sent-gru-target-sergei-skripal/

2-14-19 Married, father-of-one Denis Sergeev allegedly flew back to Moscow on the day the poisoning happened - 4 March 2018 - via Rome instead of taking a flight that had been booked on with two other suspects from London.
