1-1-21 Proposed changes to the rules of the House of Representatives would “honor all gender identities” by eliminating such specific terms as mother and father, son and daughter, and aunt and uncle.
Instead, only gender-neutral terms such as “parent,” “child,” “sibling” and “parent’s sibling” would be allowed in the text of the House rules, according to the proposed changes.
The new rules will make the House “the most inclusive in history,” Pelosi said in announcing the proposed changes. But the gender-neutralizing move — a nod to the transgender and non-binary community — was widely mocked on social media. https://nypost.com/2021/01/01/house-rules-may-be-stripped-of-all-gender-references/

Progressives were also pushing for the rules package to eliminate a longstanding pay-as-you-go, or PAYGO, provision that requires legislation that would increase the deficit to be offset. While the rules package does not get rid of PAYGO, it would provide the Budget Committee chairperson the authority to declare legislation providing economic and heath responses to the pandemic, as well as measures designed to combat climate change, as having no cost — effectively a PAYGO exemption. https://www.rollcall.com/2021/01/01/house-rules-package-offers-compromise-on-members-requests/
