21) No, I come to those who are not yet sealed in the rote of my coming. For it is not rote but only in the outer consciousness. It is the great ritual which I reenact for the reincarnation again and again of the Word with you and of the Christ born.
22) It is a sacrilege, for all work is holy and is the holiness of God. Nothing is rote. Nothing is drudgery. Every act is an opportunity to be God.

24) And I must say, they are also black magicians; for they have succeeded in securing the lifestream and harnessing it to a rote performance of an ancient ritual that comes from the Holy Kumaras and is sacred and ought not to be given for the sake of outer gain or manipulation.
26) What remains is for you to get this profound truth through your own head and simply to act upon it--to defy the forces of rote and mechanism and the desire of the mental body to not think. The carnal mind is an idolater and a slave and a tyrant, and therefore by these traits it snuffs out creativity.
27) Some having the threefold flame yet fall back into patterns of rote and mechanization which they had long ago. This does not mean they do not have the threefold flame; it means that the four lower bodies and the human consciousness must be held in God-control by the soul, one with Christ.
Thus fear not. For the human animal in everyone has its mechanization concepts and its rote performances. These will be rebuked fiercely where seen so that you may quickly choose to become the co-creator and co-worker with the living Christ….Some who have seen coming down the road the day of encounter with Maitreya and the dweller on the threshold have set themselves and set their teeth to a path of mechanization and rote performance and [false] sacrifice. And they have gone about this with a great intensity. And they have missed the path of obedient love.

28) God does judge by the heart and not by the outer mechanizations of the form. So many engage in rote and rituals in life and seeming niceties. But within either there is no character or no spirit or there is only the ticking of the inner time bomb to the moment when, turned inside out, that individual becomes enraged in the very presence of God manifest in the person of his prophets.
29) When the mind becomes enfeebled as a matrix, when it does not pulsate with action of the second ray then you can understand that by the very disintegratedness of molecules and electrons there does take place a consciousness of dependence, depression, old age and death….Blessed hearts, Socialism will cause humanity to behave in a rote fashion, unable to go beyond that rote performance, thus degrading this evolution down the scale to the level of primates and beneath, as they were prior to the coming of Sanat Kumara.
30) Blessed ones, all religions have fallen into decay when the ritual of the Word has become rote.
31) And so long as there are free souls upon earth who desire that freedom to ultimately realize the bodhi in themselves, so I am at hand, as much able to teach you the path of the Eastern adepts as I have chosen to give you instead the formula from God for the Western disciple. That formula, beloved, is by no means rote but a divine ritual, a right-you-all, for righting of all conditions in consciousness.
32) Now the student comes to the place where he is going to become a chela. And this doesn’t mean a chela merely by rote obedience, merely by attempting to box in the Guru and tell the Guru that “I am doing what I am doing because this is what you said” a hundred years ago or five months ago or five days ago--always wanting to have a list of rules, regulations and systems to follow as a point of obedience rather than to have to apply directly to the heart of the teacher or messenger for the creative solution to various continuing problems or to a new phase of an ongoing service.
33) I fear lest you adopt the ways of rote performance of ritual of mechanization man! I fear lest you take for granted the staff that is placed in the hand of the Messenger! It is a spiritual staff of which the one she does hold is outer sign and symbol.
34) This must be done, beloved, [and it must be done] not merely with the [mouth, mouthing pleadings before one’s “angry God,”] or with the [rote] repetition of decrees, but through a profound surrender [of every form of your denial of the Godhead dwelling in you bodily]. [This] does demand courage and the courage to be done with all doubt and fear!
35) To sense the miracle of the violet flame rather than just the rote of a decree, to sense that it is the gift of eternal life making possible all things that you do, to approach this flame with the reverence of love and the sense of such great worth that it has [to impart to you] will enable you to convey it to others, to give it as that most treasured light that is the key and that makes the difference between eternal life and continuous reincarnation.
36) Some of you look like a rote robot going up and down five steps perpetually--up five steps, down five steps, up five steps, down five steps. Would you like to envision yourself doing this all day, beloved? [“No!”]
Well, sometimes you have done it for months and lifetimes. No wonder some angels become weary and ask for an R and R in the Central Sun!
37) You can be one who is quickened, one who is no longer willing to dally in the doldrums of a set pattern but whose soul soars in an upward spiraling momentum. You can be one who does not bow to rote routine, round and round again. For within the rote there are bright but unclean essences, sparks of creativity, yet sparks of creativity that shall not fly. They shall not fly, for they are not born in love. They are not born in the creative fires of the origin of creation.
38) Liberate the mind from all mind-sets and let your spirit soar and be free!…What a pity not to be able to repeat a mantra again and again, enflaming it with love-fires of one’s heart or not to be able to infuse the same sacred rituals day after day with renewed joy and enthusiasm instead of with the rote that some students allow themselves to fall into.
39) And if you wonder why you have not made more progress on the path it is because many of you have a laid-back attitude or perhaps you have become rote or perhaps, as the people of South America, satisfied in the fatness of your existence and no longer sensitive to cries of the poor.
40) I point out to you that it is not numbers nor is it rote repetition of decrees that we seek but singular towering figures who you are, who move midst your cities and nations.
