7-20-21 Dr. Köntös (Hungary) found that Iodine-V, which is currently available as the EID formulation, inactivated 99% of SARS-CoV-2 after 60 and 90 seconds. These results were similar to PVP-I, which has previously been reported to inhibit 99.99% of SARS-CoV-2 at 60 seconds. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210719/Iodine-derivative-kills-SARS-CoV-2-within-90-sec.aspx

12-4-20 EID (200 μg iodine/ml) after exposure for 60 and 90 seconds was compared to controls. In both cases, the viral titre was reduced by 99% (LRV 2.0). The 1:1 dilution of EID with virus reduced SARS-CoV-2 virus from 31,623 cell culture infectious dose 50% (CCCID50) to 316 CCID50 within 90 seconds.
Conclusion: Substantial reductions in LRV by Iodine-V in EID confirmed the activity of EID against SARS- CoV-2 in vitro , demonstrating that Iodine-V in EID is effective at inactivating the virus in vitro and therefore suggesting its potential application intranasal to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission from known or suspected COVID-19 patients. 11-26-20 selenium is acknowledged, independently, to combat a number of viral diseases. Observational studies have associated higher selenium status with better recovery from COVID-19 and poorer selenium status is associated with COVID-19 death. In-vitro evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 reduces the expression of selenoproteins that protect against viral disease. It is therefore advisable to ensure adequate selenium intake, particularly in countries with low or marginal selenium status. (Selenium, mineral from soil, found in Brazil nuts, cottage cheese, egg, brown rice, sunflower, baked beans) https://scholars.direct/Articles/oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery/aoms-3-012.php?jid=oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery

A team from France’s National Institute for Health and Medical Research and other institutes retrospectively examined over 9,000 serum samples banked as part of a public health project from November 2019 through March 2020. “We found antibodies in the first week of November, but we had no money to go back further in time,” said Marie Zins, the project’s scientific director. “It’s a shame because in November we had seven volunteers who were positive, including two in the first week of November.”

In a paper published in Science magazine in April, scientists simulated a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak 1,000 times, and found it fizzled out more than two-thirds of the time.
In their follow-up recommendations the WHO experts called for a review of early blood samples from the Wuhan Blood Center and medical records from the Military World Games. The WHO did not reply to questions about whether these reviews took place. The Wuhan Blood Center, Wuhan CDC and Hubei province CDC did not respond to requests for comment.
The online archives of two local state-run newspapers, the Hubei Daily and Chutian Metro Daily, can no longer be accessed before Nov. 5, 2019, according to checks by The Post. The newspapers’ publisher did not respond to a request for comment. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/covid-pandemic-origin-wuhan-lab/2021/07/07/41fbbf9e-d560-11eb-b39f-05a2d776b1f4_story.html

Using serum samples routinely collected in 9144 adults from a French general population-based cohort, we identified 353 participants with a positive anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG test, among whom 13 were sampled between November 2019 and January 2020 and were confirmed by neutralizing antibodies testing. Investigations in 11 of these participants revealed experience of symptoms possibly related to a SARS-CoV-2 infection or situations at risk of potential SARS-CoV-2 exposure. This suggests early circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in Europe.
A recent investigation of the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in 959 adults participating to a trial in Italy with blood samples collected between September 2019 to February 2020 identified 111 (11.6%) samples with a positive receptor-binding protein specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), among which 4 samples collected in October, 1 in November and 1 in February were also positive in a qualitative micro=neutralization assay [4]. This indicates that SARS-CoV-2 could have been present in Italy since the beginning of autumn 2019.
The proportion of ELISA-S positive increased in Marseille test center from 1.9% (42 of 2218) in November 2019 and 1.3% (20 of 1534) in December to 5.0% (114 of 2268) in January 2020, 5.2% (114 of 2179) in February. Number of blood samples tested each week for anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies by ELISA-S IgG test.
