Sars2 vaccine safety/risk data compendium

1)  This safety update report is based on detailed analysis of data up to 21 July 2021.  At this date an estimated 20.4 million first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 24.7 million first doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca had been administered, and around 12.9 million and 23.2 million second doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca respectively. An approximate 1.3 million first doses and approximately 0.3 million second doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna have also now been administered.
As of 21 July 2021 for the UK, 95,040 Yellow Cards (adverse to vax) have been reported for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, 224,252 have been reported for the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca, 10,990 for the COVID-19 Vaccine Moderna.

2)  In Singapore where Delta is the most common variant government officials reported on Friday that three-quarters of its coronavirus cases occurred among vaccinated individuals, though none were severely ill.

Israeli health officials have said 60% of current hospitalized COVID-19 cases are in vaccinated people.  Most of them are age 60 or older and often have underlying health problems.

In the United States, which has experienced more COVID-19 cases and deaths than any other country, the Delta variant represents about 83% of new infections.  So far unvaccinated people represent nearly 97% of severe cases….

The Pfizer Inc (PFE.N)/BioNTech vaccine, one of the most effective against COVID-19 so far, appeared only 41% effective at halting symptomatic infections in Israel over the past month as the Delta variant spread, according to Israeli government data….A study in China found that people infected with the Delta variant carry 1,000 times more virus in their noses compared with the original version first identified in Wuhan in 2019.    https://www.reuters.com/world/china/how-delta-variant-upends-assumptions-about-coronavirus-2021-07-26/

3)  8-4-21   Once the researchers in England a month ago adjusted for factors such as age they found that people who received two vaccine doses were 49% as likely to test positive for the coronavirus, even without symptoms, compared with people who were unvaccinated and that vaccinated people were 59% less likely to test positive with symptoms.

The study examined nearly 100,000 people who took COVID-19 swab tests at home between June 24 and July 12.  In that sample group, 527 people tested positive for the coronavirus and 254 of the samples were genetically analyzed; all of the sequenced samples turned out to be the highly transmissible delta variant.

Their findings conflict with previous studies.  For example, a study conducted by Public Health England found that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was 88% effective against symptomatic disease caused by the delta variant.

early data from Israel suggested that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was 64% effective against symptomatic disease caused by the delta variant, and data from Canada found it was 87% effective against symptomatic disease, according to an internal presentation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  But newer data from Israel found that the efficacy of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Delta slipped to 39% (but is still 88% effective against hospitalization and 91% protective against severe illness),…Young people ages 13 to 24 had the highest infection rate.    https://www.livescience.com/uk-coronavirus-imperial-college-vaccine-effectiveness-study.html  (AstraZeneca 2 shots confirms less safety from Delta, according to several studies).

4)   7-16-21   according to a recent report from Public Health England (PHE).  The report shows that 163 of the 257 people (63.4%) who died of the Delta variant within 28 days of a positive Covid test between February 1 and June 21, had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

5)    6-28-21    Take the latest data (Feb 1st, 2021 – June 21st, 2021) as an example:  the infection rate of unvaccinated people is 8.5 times higher than that of fully vaccinated people (2,238/million vs 236/million); while the hospitalization rate caused by delta variant infection is only 4.8 times higher for unvaccinated people compared with that for fully vaccinated people (35/million vs 6/million)….(Yet,)

according to the latest data (Feb 1st, 2021 – June 21st, 2021), the mortality rates of the three groups (unvaccinated, at least 1 dose vaccinated and fully vaccinated) are very similar:  1.83 person per million, 1.67 person per million and 1.63 person per million respectively….according to the latest data (Feb 1st, 2021 – June 21st, 2021), the mortality rates of the three groups (unvaccinated, at least 1 dose vaccinated and fully vaccinated) are very similar: 1.83 person per million, 1.67 person per million and 1.63 person per million respectively.  https://gnews.org/1357351/

6)  7-30-21   today either by shot or illness, an estimated 90 percent of people have Covid-19 antibodies, according to the Office for National Statistics.    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/england-reopened-amid-delta-surge-then-cases-fell-are-there-n1275811

…………................................................................

7)   8-1-21  report published in the journal Nature reflected the findings that a single shot of a two-dose vaccine such as Pfizer-BioNTech or AstraZeneca provided “barely” any protection.  study in Canada, meanwhile, found that two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine worked just as well against the Delta variant as it did with alpha.  It has not yet been peer reviewed.  The study suggested the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was around 87 percent effective 14 days after two doses.

The Israeli Health Ministry said the decision also took into account its own data based on national health statistics, which suggested that people vaccinated in April appeared to have 75 percent protection against infection, according to reports, whereas protection for those vaccinated in January dropped to as low as 16 percent.  https://www.healthline.com/health-news/heres-how-well-covid-19-vaccines-work-against-the-delta-variant#Vaccines-vs.-Delta-variant

…………...........................................................................

8)   Just over half of unvaccinated adults (53 percent) said they believed getting vaccinated posed a bigger risk to their health than getting infected with the coronavirus.  The majority of unvaccinated adults (57 percent) also said they thought the news media had “generally exaggerated” the seriousness of the pandemic, compared with 17 percent of vaccinated adults….the Kaiser FF poll of July 15-27 also found vaccine views were hardening--with just over 1 in 5 unvaccinated adults saying news of variants had made them more likely to get vaccinated….a nationally representative sample of 1,517 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.  The survey found 71 percent of women reported they had at least one shot compared with 63 percent of men.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08/04/kff-poll-coronavirus-vaccine-unvaccinated-americans/

……………................................................................

9)  8-3-21     21 percent of those responding to the KFF survey said they would be more likely to get vaccinated if their employer gave them paid time off to get the shot and paid them for the time they might need to recover from any side effects of the vaccine.  https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2020/coronavirus-vaccine-research.html

…………….................................................................…............................

10)    8-5-21   The mortality rate of those who were not vaccinated was 15.5% compared with 4.1% for those who had received two shots of either the Sinovac or AstraZeneca vaccine, according to data from state hospitals and almost 68,000 patients in Jakarta from May to July.  https://www.reuters.com/article/health-coronavirus-indonesia-vaccines/indonesia-finds-covid-deaths-more-than-three-times-higher-for-the-unvaccinated-idUSL4N2PB23D

………………………………………............................................

11)   8-4-21   despite vaccination status, age or other health conditions, the delta variant still presented a 120% higher risk of hospitalization, 287% higher risk of intensive care unit admission, and 137% higher risk of death, according to a study from Canada.   https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article253220048.html

………………………………………………………...................................

12)  According to PHE, 73% of Delta cases are in unvaccinated people, compared to only 3.7% in people who have received both doses.  https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/04/world/india-variant-dominant-uk-intl-gbr/index.html
