Prof at Johns Hopkins Dr. Makary on vaccine mandates

8-5-21    Dr. Marty Makary, professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine says:

Over 85,000 Americans die annually from alcohol, yet we don't have the same public health fervor or requirements to save those lives….The notion that we have to vaccinate every living, walking American--and eventually every newborn--in order to control the pandemic is based on the false assumption that the risk of dying from COVID-19 is equally distributed in the population.  It's not.  We have always known that it's very hard for the virus to hurt someone who is young and healthy.  And that's still the case.

During every month of this pandemic I've had debates with other public researchers about the effectiveness and durability of natural immunity.  I've been told that natural immunity could fall off a cliff, rendering people susceptible to infection.  But here we are now, over a year and a half into the clinical experience of observing patients who were infected, and natural immunity is effective and going strong.  And that's because with natural immunity, the body develops antibodies to the entire surface of the virus, not just a spike protein constructed from a vaccine.  The power of natural immunity was recently affirmed in an Israeli study * which found a 6.7 times greater level of protection among those with natural immunity vs. those with vaccinated immunity.  https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/why-covid-19-vaccines-should-not-be-required-for-all-americans

      * With a total of 835,792 Israelis known to have recovered from the virus…Israelis who were vaccinated were 6.72 times more likely to get infected after the shot than after natural infection. https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/309762

8-9-21   "Well Dana, the co-author I wrote that piece with and I are very pro-mask as you know--I wrote the first piece calling for universal masking back in the spring in the beginning of the pandemic--but it turns out kids, they’re very inefficient transmitters,"

Prof. Makary told "America’s Newsroom'sDana Perino.

"So, for kids who do well with masks feel free to wear a mask," Makary continued.  "For kids who struggle, we have to individualize and think about a carve-out that gives them and their parents the option to not wear it because the risk-benefit ratio isn’t there."   https://www.foxnews.com/media/doctor-weighs-in-on-school-mask-mandate-kids-are-very-inefficient-transmitters
