a note on the Milky Way galactic center and astrology

  Galactic center is at radio source Sag A, positioned in Right Ascension (RA) at 17:45:40 (2000 A.D.) in hrs:mins:secs RA, also at 17:42:29  (1950 A.D.)  RA.

  Thus 3:11 RA movement in 50 years of equinoctial precession; in 2500 years 50x as much, or 150 minutes and 550 seconds of RA.  This is 2 hrs., 39 mins. of RA.  2500 years ago the location of radio source Sag A (galactic center) would have been at 2 hrs and 39 mins RA back from 2000 A.D. position; this point then is 17:46-2:39 = 15:07 RA.  (RA is measured from spring equinox as 0:00 point along celestial equator.)  [So, galactic center was somewhere in SIGN SCORPIO IN TROPICAL ASTROLOGY 2500 years ago]  -r.

  HOW get from R.A. to degrees/minutes longitude tropical used in western astrology?  A helper then, as this is NOT easy at all, mathematically, to convert:

Sag. A position:   

Longitude (tropical): 26 Sagittarius 51 14 (all positions epoch 2000.0)

Latitude: 05 S 36

Longitude Sidereal: 02 Sagittarius 07 03

Right Ascension 265 39 17  (—that’s 265 minutes, 39 secs. RA from 0 degrees Aries--or 4:20 RA short of 270 minutes RA.)

  This is very tough stuff for 99.9% of the population partly because the conversion is a double one, once to longitude sidereal and once to longitude tropical.  Longitude sidereal is used in India astrology; longitude tropical is used in western astrology, both along ecliptic.  Right ascension is used in astronomy.   -r.

  Now we go to the next birthday of USA, which comes as shown in following chart when Sun reaches 10:46 of Taurus:

Notice that Saturn and Pluto are very nearly conjunct in Capricorn, both squaring Mercury in Aries. The south lunar node is extremely close to Saturn.  (The lunar nodes are analogous to t'ai chi rhythm).  Jupiter nearing the galactic center.       -r.
