Worldwide annual bombing weekend; Truthful accounting

4-14-2018     A worldwide annual bombing weekend has been proposed where all countries may bomb anybody they please on whatever grounds they like.  Some say it would be cooler to make this semi-annual, on a first-come first-serve basis.  The UN is studying the weekend free-bombing proposal, insisting it has final say on the extravaganza, also on all monopoly rights to TV coverage of the events.  Facebook is considering sponsoring the whole show in order to extract personal and burial data.
Russia is threatening to veto at the UN the bombing weekend proposal in favor of "Bombing Seasons" planned and authorized specially by the Kremlin on a surprise basis.  "This would be much more exciting and fair," says President Putin.  Labor Party chief Corbyn says "La Bomba is my favorite dance; I wouldn't miss such a party for a measly few islands off the European main--or would I?"  Iran's Ayatollah-in-Chief promises to spice up the party with Great and Merciful Alllah-toys, while rumors are afoot that Saddam Hussein will rise out of his grave to join in, uninvited naturally.  President Assad,
wearing stylish Explorer shades, claims he is entirely innocent of this whole affair.  Meanwhile President Trump is warming to the project, as Washington is a bit staid for his style....As for Fat Boy, well, he has gone straight.       -ABC News, Oceania Central

When Will US Government Spending Reach 200% of Total GDP?

4-12-2018    Total spending by the Trump Administration this fiscal year may be more than double what the non-partisan CBO admits.  Worse, overall US federal, state and local government spending may exceed 60% of GDP.
So calculates a Chicago-based accounting watchdog. “Government budgeting works on a cash basis,” explains Sheila Weinberg, founder and CEO of Truth in Accounting. “That enables them to leave many of their expenses and liabilities off the books.”  Weinberg, a CPA who has testified before Congress and the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board, has been calling out shifty government reporting for nearly two decades.
“W is key for citizens, legislators and the press to understand public finances,” says Weinberg.  “Without the right information, it’s hard—if not impossible—to make effective decisions about public policy.”  https://wolfstreet.com/2018/04/12/more-shifty-accounting-us-public-sector-spending-may-exceed-60-of-gdp/
