Is the U.S. actually funding the military build up of China to its detriment?

China's military build up is a big boon for the military industrial complex in the US.  Some of the folks I knew in high school wound up getting lucrative jobs designing new military equipment or purchasing anti missile defense systems and so on because China gave their companies a great pitch for why their services are needed.

Not just for US use either, but any country feeling threatened by the CCP also feels the need to ramp up military spending and America is the first salesman at their door.  So while overall China's buildup can be seen as a 'threat' to US interests, it is immensely profitable to many American corporations too.
