               5 Minute History Lesson

  Picking up the historical background on the Middle East is no five minute course.  America has somewhat followed in the pathway of the British.  Like most societies the British developed a Jekyll and Hyde facet, both an underground mode in contrast to the official or approved mode.  

  When President George W. Bush decided it was high time to enter hurriedly and in lasting mode into the MidEast, the C.I.A. had already been out fishing for decades, joining the other empires in fishing expeditions.  From the end of WWII the Baath or socialist party had two branches in power, both in Iraq and Syria. 

  Since Saddam Hussein was a thorn from the standpoint of some unnamed—who did understand (or operate in) the code language of the underground mode or Hyde nature, which of course is what Saddam Hussein was raised upon--apparently the various intelligence services of the West decided that, inasmuch as the Soviet Intel Services were allied to the Baath Party in both Iraq and Syria, they the CIA and allies might as well subvert both setups; hence the so-called Syrian Civil War which could be more aptly named the (Underground) Intelligence Services Civil War.  And that is probably why most of the public does not quite grasp what the historic background/overview of world politics is about:  because the code language of the underground or Hyde nature is not so easy to learn (or operate in).  This code language is used in various sectors, not just in intelligence circles.      -r, mt. shasta
