Is not the greatest harm inflicted by monotony?

192.  About many conditions technology will be as uninformed as was the cave age.  And yet who would not agree that wood and minerals have an important medicinal significance?  It means that essential analysis is at a standstill in the absence of observation.  Investigation has gone along a channel of usualness, and for “overzealous” investigators somewhere a bonfire is already prepared.  You may be sure that the spirit of the Inquisition is still not very far away; the difference will be in the garb and in the means of eradicating new quests.             -M:  Community 1926

322.  Hierarchy and the creation of  new consciousness are affirmed as the cornerstone of evolution.  Each day one can observe the evidence of such progress.  But people seldom synthesize these many-colored petals of the Fire Blossom.  Courage is lacking to acknowledge oneself as living upon the ruins of the old world.  Yet even a woodcutter knows in what direction the tree will fall, for he does not want to be crushed.  On the contrary he quietly calculates the amount of new building material and fuel.  Thus one must rejoice at the cosmic battle!    -M:  Hierachy 1931

175.   Is not the greatest harm inflicted by monotony which penetrates into all human strata?  The Law is one, but its vibrations are as varied as the universe is multifarious.  Those who know this Law cannot regard the whole of humanity as a pile of homogeneous stones which resound to different vibrations.  One must rejoice at this multiformity, for precisely it gives the path to refinement. What would become of the human heart if it reverberated to only one note?  Hence let all leaders remember about multiformity and diversity.    -M:  Heart 1932

319.  Even in the most straitened conditions it is possible to receive restoration and reinforcement.  Often a plant is fortified between stones far more soundly than in rich soil.  Straitened conditions merely guide the roots into crevices and reinforce them against whirlwinds.     -M:  Fiery World 1934

276.  Long ago the Thinker noticed that the smoke of campfires is harmful and urged people to use a kind of wood whose smoke does not obscure consciousness.  He knew then that at some time mankind would poison itself and all that exists.
