Let us not take obstinacy along with us; no mask will deceive a vigilant heart

You are Hierarchy!  You are the hierarchy of wisdom’s fount, and through you we test the souls of mankind.  As you are willing to hold that position in Hierarchy so also accept that one just a step beyond you is able in this moment to give you so much more than you have been willing to receive because of that subtle ingredient of human stubbornness where in truth you have not totally submitted to the will of God and to your own correction by the wisdom already present and anchored in the Messenger.  Ponder then my words, for I see many who reach for the stars and have not yet even plucked the star in their own backyard.  So let it be that you avail yourselves of opportunity.        -Elohim Apollo:  10-7-1977 at Pasadena via Messenger E C Prophet

63.  Direct your forces towards the enlightenment of mankind. …Be unwavering in your faith.  I shall help those who seek.

169.  During treatment of illnesses through a command of the will remember that one must not try to overcome infectious diseases by suggestion.  A common error is the lack of knowledge of how to discern the circle of possible effect.  Furthermore the treatment of infectious diseases by suggestion may work irreparable harm.  It is better not to touch a dog guarding the gateway; if one begins to whip it, its rage will increase tenfold.  Likewise with microbes they can be vanquished by rays or by the counteraction of the forces of the organism, but the whip of the will forces many centers to droop, and the fire will engulf new domains.   -M:  Community 1926

61.  Like a vampire the rider can exhaust his horse, or the hunter his dog, or the gardener his plants.  Seek the cause of this in the emanations of the man.
187.  A yogi ignores seeming misfortune because he discerns the causes and effects of unforeseen events.  What people usually see as accidental is the result of influences persisting from the past, even the most remote. And where others will turn away from misfortune with disdain a yogi perceives the true possibilities.  Do not be amazed if the yogi's heart responds to the most pitiful dog in which he sees the seeds of devotion, or if he suddenly calls the humblest child to be a future co-worker.
199.  Our Teaching is not strong in the hands of those who do not apply it to life.  Tell this to the co-workers in all countries so that they may immediately find the means to fortify life through the counsels of yoga.  There are too many talkers and too few doers.  I see no need for general lectures; but individual conversations are needed. Also do not hide the difficulties or the advantages of the Teaching. Relate yoga to world events because a new system of life must be introduced without which social movements will be nothing more than a masquerade of old ideas. The severe discipline of freedom can rebuild life only when a new understanding of the conscious use of finer energy enters into everyday life.
318.  One must not be concerned with the barking of dogs.  One may carry a staff and remember that just one well-timed thrust will frighten the most vicious dog.  Do not waste energy with a premature stroke.  But aim well!
401.  Soulless repetition destroys the Teaching.  Also the quality of rhythm must be understood.  Of course every crystal functions according to the principles of attraction and pulsation.  But pulsation - or rhythm - is characteristic of the living principle.  However any given rhythm may be more or less alive or dead.  Living rhythms spiritualized by the power of consciousness will produce varying combinations of subtle energies.  But the rhythm of the lips' soulless repetitions results only in a dead beat that violates the wisdom of silence and brings only harm; beware of repetitions devoid of spirit!  Truly they dissolve the most precious gems of Spirit.  If one's action is based only on fear or greed, then even a skeleton or a military drummer could rap out a more useful rhythm.  Can one expect a manifestation of fire from the raps of the tail of a dog awaiting a bone?  Remember this when you are dealing with the finest energies, when you intend to approach and awaken the manifestation of Fire.         -M:  Agni Yoga 1929

197.  Do not strive to only a customary decision; one may subjugate many heads by customary speech.  But this speech will be unintelligible to the higher realms.  Earthly prosiness sounds like the barking of a dog; no magnet will attract such a husk, and fire cannot burn without oil.  But let us discriminate between commonplaceness and daily labor, because many people seek contradiction where it does not exist.  Notice such people; they are not successful because their thought is with yesterday.  Let us not be bound by anything of the past.  Also do not look for friends according to yesterday and know at once how to test their hearts.     -M:  Hierarchy 1931

450.  A rishi sent small pieces of linen or palm leaf or birch bark to the needy and sick.  Those who received these ridiculed them and said "Is it not ridiculous to waste one's forces in sending blank fragments?"  They paid regard only to words.  But those who were wise applied what had been sent to the affected part or the heart, receiving relief.  They understood that the rishi had placed his hand upon it and suffused what had been sent with his finer energy.  ]     -M:  Heart 1932

258.  The fallacy of ancient calculations is due to unwillingness to pay attention to reality; people want everything to conform to their own understanding.  You once saw how a crowd forced its way into a theater while the stage was already in flames; thus it is in everything.
373.  The fiery understanding of obsession is called “urumiya.”…Horses and dogs in particular sense and resent the proximity of obsessed persons.  In ancient China there was a special breed of dogs, highly prized, which was very sensitive and useful in detecting the obsessed.  In ancient times it was also a custom to exhibit the horses and dogs before guests, observing at the same time the reaction of the animals; many envoys were put through this test….One ought to develop urumiya in oneself not only for protection but for the purpose of expelling the obsessor.  Very often a single conversation about the significance of agni begins to act upon the obsessor.  Fearing fire, the very mention of the fiery energy angers him and forces him to retreat.
397.  The ability to discern true direction is a great and fiery quality.  One can understand that such a quality is not easily strengthened; it demands not only discussion but the most attentive study of life.  No one believes that one can leap at one bound from animal consciousness to straight-knowledge.  Animal instinct is the germ of straight-knowledge, but great is the abyss between a dog that senses its master and a man who is aware of the fiery realm!  To sense the fiery realm while in the earthly body is already enlightenment.      -M:  Fiery World 1933

69.  The servitors of darkness are ready for the most disagreeable consequences if only they may create poisonous evil.  One must firmly remember these creators of evil who often do not spare even themselves for an evil deed.  Many instances can be revealed of the carrying out nevertheless under the suggestions of the dark ones of a premeditated evil that could not be advantageous to the evil doer himself.  The devices of the dark ones must be exposed.  For example sometimes one finds in the vicinity of certain places corpses of some people or animals.  The dark ones know that for attraction of forces of lower spheres decomposition is necessary, and they ingeniously arrange such centers of confusion and decay.  For this reason I have for long advised not to keep in the house decomposing meat and decayed plants nor stagnant water.  People seldom pay attention to such dangers, which are confirmed even by our contemporary physicians.
144.  The mind cannot sufficiently well discern evil.  A great many reasonings may be found in which a viper is concealed, but heart-feeling of repulsion to evil does not err.  The nerve centers revolt against contact with the dark principle.  It is impossible not to notice this heart-sign and then is created the resistance to evil.  One may observe how the heart current immediately strengthens the armor of radiation.  One may say to such a warrior--verily, brother, you have armed yourself….Evil is not endurable for the pure heart.  Evil can adorn itself with many garments, but no mask will deceive a vigilant heart.
302.  One may make a mistake but it is inexcusable not to listen to advice.  We do not suppress goodwill, but why find oneself in a stormy sea without a life-belt?
-M:  Fiery World 1934

339. The process of the creation of a pure atmosphere parallels the creation of a channel for the reception of fiery energies.  Each manifestation of life is filled with poison created by human society.  This poisoning is equal to the most terrible hotbed of diseases.  Often people are amazed as to why there are so many difficulties, why so many misfortunes and miseries;.…traitors and agitators and doers of dark deeds are most frightful violators of cosmic equilibrium.     -M:  Fiery World 1935

19.  Let us not take obstinacy along with us; there is no more intolerable burden than stubbornness.  People do not even choose a headstrong horse; they will not even take an obstinate dog on a journey.  Stubbornness is a paralysis of the best centers.  Experiments with finer energy will be without results if the investigator be stubborn.      -M:  Brotherhood 1937

221.  One may also ask what type of dog has a stronger sense of the subtle realm--of course the long-haired ones because they can accumulate more electricity.  Similarly people who collect more electricity can sense more strongly the presence of subtle entities either at night or by day.       -M:  Supermundane 1, 1938

309.  An unskilled sculptor can ruin a block of marble, but an unskilled doer of good can break many hearts!  Only by hard work can a sculptor become skilled; likewise only profound contemplation can perfect the art of the Good.
343.  The horse and dog know very well when their owner is cheerful or sad or disturbed.  They also reflect the fears and anxieties of their owner and become fearful and anxious themselves; they understand such situations far better than people think they do.  The important thing is to obtain their trust which is not given easily.      -M:  Supermundane 2, 1938
