Amidst the shakings of the earth the flexible and living branch will not break

II, i, 3.  Our frontline stands as a wall, and a smile flashes as lightning over all faces at each of your successful moves.  As a gardener sees that the garden be covered with buds, uprooting the weeds, so we watch the movements of chosen hands.  Joyous is each resourcefulness because the shield is forged on both sides.  Broad is my work, to everyone a place ordained; by the broadness of your vision will you allot your own part.  The manifestation of unprecedented possibilities is behind the door.  Give us reason to rejoice!
III, vi, 11.  The timid in spirit became disconcerted and upset the rhythm of the pace; but he who knew the significance of immutability went on resolutely.  And when his body encountered the stronghold it fell to pieces and he entered into the last chamber.

12.  It is a most useful thing to be able to combine the tenderness of love with austereness of duty.  The new life will not be deterred by contrasts.  It will not exert compulsion with one yoke but will bestow breadth of receptivity.  It is not fitting for people to sit in a chicken-coop, it is time to know the planet and to assist it.  People cannot lull themselves by calculating how many years are yet left before the Sun will be extinguished.  A great number of various conditions may upset all calculations.  It also cannot be forgotten that people can gnaw each other in two; this consideration must not be forgotten since malice is deluging the Earth.

300.  It is necessary to know those who are guided by a free consciousness.   Only those who know the purpose of a battle can participate in it.  Slaves driven by force are not needed.  I consider it right to protect sincere striving rather than to search for the fragments of a broken vessel.
382.  It is neither age nor illness but prejudice that severs the threads of happiness, and irritability is the offspring of prejudice.  One cannot free oneself from irritability without first uprooting prejudice. Continuous striving can help one to properly evaluate life's manifestations.  Not renunciation but a clear understanding of life is needed.  One's pledge like a sword of justice should define a correct attitude.        -M:  Agni Yoga 1929

40.  Where there is evasion there is no salvation but only retardment.  He who is unafraid to participate in the eternal unlimited motion may verily assume the image of the warrior.  Readiness and the pressure of the rhythm will carry him into the radiance of cosmos.
322.  Only in tension can the cosmic design be brought into existence.  Only when all strings reverberate can the cosmic design be brought into existence…. Cosmos propels its energies in accordance with polarity.    -M:  Infinity 1, 1930

192.  Striving toward constant abiding with Hierarchy can provide the necessary steps.  How can a tree stand powerfully if one tries to uproot it?  Only contact with the pure current gives balance to the forces.  Hence only the roots of Hierarchy can uphold a structure.  Each digression brings harm to the mighty growth.  One should be consciously affirmed in the understanding of the power of Hierarchy.  Through clefts caused by disrespect to Hierarchy black forces creep in.  Hence one must understand unity with the power expressed by the higher might—thus can one attain.
278.  One can feel how aggravated is the interrelation between the powers of light and darkness, which increases the non-conformity of the reaction of nature.  You can see how greatly perturbed are the weak spirits, how greatly obsessions increase and to what an extent these obsessions complicate karma.    -M:  Hierarchy 1931

117.  Intolerance is a sign of ignobility of spirit. Intolerance contains embryos of the most evil acts. There is no place for the manifestation of the growth of the spirit where intolerance breeds.  The heart is unlimited, which indicates how poor a heart must be in order to deprive itself of Infinity!  It is necessary to uproot every means that can lead to the idol of intolerance.  Mankind has invented various obstacles to ascent.  The dark forces are trying by all means to restrain evolution.  Of course as the first assault there is an action against Hierarchy.  Everyone has heard about the power of Blessing, but because of ignorance they have transformed this beneficent action into superstition.
231.  Likewise the roots of a tree may sometimes be more secure than the foundations of a house.  When the floor begins to shake would it not be safer to catch at the branch of a tree?  The time is so difficult that one may find the branch of a tree more secure than the stones of a floor.  Even a small window may serve better than a door.  Amidst the shakings of the earth the flexible and living branch will not break; hence study the nature of things.  It is unwise not to utilize that which grows beside the window.  Only a madman needlessly uproots that which he himself cannot plant; similarly only the creatures of falsehood try to encircle the path so as to force the traveler to deviate.  But upon the branches of life one can leave the signs of the true path.  Thus let us safeguard each branch near a window.  When needed let the leaves of the garden protect our work and safeguard us from the gale--this means that the gale is raging.
418.  Without participation of the heart you cannot speak of quality which lies at the basis of everything that exists.  Reason rejects quality, but you already see how life is upset without reverence of quality. Only the heart rejoices at the truth of quality.  Thus let us understand why, after complicated calculations, there remains the one salvation--only through the path of the heart.  An uncontrollable flame, the horror of poison released can be countered only by the heart.  Besides one must begin comprehension of the heart from the first steps.
-M:  Heart 1932

114.  One need not be surprised at dark entities swarming about.  If you should find a lion in your flower garden, no doubt there would be an uproar in the house.  To the dark ones you are that very lion in their backyard.  Not a few efforts did they expend in cultivating their thistles and then suddenly, an uninvited lion made his appearance!  Truly sometimes one must pity all these labors of human hatred.  But for all that, the absence of doubt is stronger than all the dark snares.      -M:  Fiery World 1933

 7.  Indeed it would be lightmindedness to think that the one who revolted against light was a weakling.  One must understand that the forces of Light refrain from annihilating the enemy not because of weakness but because of a desire not to upset prematurely the equilibrium of the planet.  Few are able to realize that the power of the Creator of the planet takes into consideration physical conditions.  But one may already see that harmonious vibrations have been disturbed and that the planet is being shaken in convulsions of heat and cold; therefore I advise equilibrium of spirit.
54.  Strive toward the fiery realm in order to participate in higher creativeness. It is a mistake to think that it is inaccessible.  Precisely every developed consciousness should strive toward the joy of creativeness.  This striving already in itself is the beginning of cooperation.    -M:  Fiery World 1934
……………………………………………………….....................................………
112.  The protective network is formed out of subtlest energies.  All centers participate in the formation of this powerful shield.  For a complete circle it is necessary that all the spiritual centers intensify their energies.  From out of the centers of spirit it is especially necessary to tense the heart, because by its power it can transmute thinking.  Right thinking produces stability, which is the first requirement.  Steadfastness expels duplicity, fear and doubt. The protective net can defend a man, making him invulnerable.  But this shield can only then be affirmed when all subtle energies have been harmonized.    -M:  Fiery World 1935
.......................................................................................
43:  Thus let us commune with the higher realm not by a command but by inclination of the heart.  One may transform earthly life only through the bond with the higher realm, otherwise suffering will not diminish; on the contrary,it will lead to ruin.  Ignorance must be uprooted, but the best enlightenment is manifested from Above.
236.  It should be understood how in every sense trust increases one's possibilities.  But what kind of trust is the best, and what doubt is the worst?  The inner trust that needs no words of affirmation is the best; fleeting doubt is the worst.  It is not the gnawing serpent of doubt that is most to be feared, because with just one achievement the serpent can be destroyed.  But the swarm of small worms of doubt requires a lengthy cure  The strongest trust can be upset neither by thought nor word.  It would be better to swallow a deadly poison than to remain in the illness of doubt; he who is shielded with trust needs no other armor.
422.  Cooperation is a sign of the epoch.  Much has been written about it, but life demands that this concept be refined.  Any calculations will not help to strengthen collaboration.  One may be convinced of this by the fact that a single evil will has already upset an entire structure.  One must not think it possible to screen the frightful condition by any sort of external obligations.  If there be no confidence, then cooperation is changed into a jar of poisonous scorpions.  I affirm that realization of finer energy cements the firm foundation of cooperation.
-M:  Aum 1936

447.  Among one's customs one must retain all those that contribute to the elevation of spirit; let us not uproot feelings which can yield most precious branches.  Let us not cut away healthy shoots, for it is impossible to create in an instant something new and more beautiful.      -M:  Brotherhood 1937
………………………………………………..…………........................................
152.  Out of confusion and wailing the Great Teacher composed harmonious symphonies; only the ignorant assume that celestial harps will sound at the first request.  From the abyss of chaos to celestial harmony the way is indeed long.  This is why the Great Teachers are also the great toilers, and only those who have heard both extremes can judge the extent of this evolution.
214.  I shall speak of one more truth which is little understood:  people are often upset when their ideas are seized and used by others.  Actually the spreading of useful ideas should give joy, but the majority are not magnanimous enough to feel that way.     -M:  Supermundane 1, 1938

310.  The Thinker said "Participate in all of existence.  It is meant for you and you are meant for it.”
370.  How can one expect harmony amidst the uproar of disharmony if the smallest habits remain untouched and unchanged?  Thus do not forget to warn friends against the dangers of petty habits.
437.  Our thought reaches the minds of many scientists.  Though they may not realize why they have started research in a certain direction we must not upset them by saying their thought was inspired since they do not believe in the transmitted continuity of ideas.  We must not thrust this concept on those who believe that they are the only source of their ideas!  Therefore should you notice that someone has obviously made use of your ideas do not object.  Let everything useful grow in all fields.
447.  One who has experienced the serenity of a broadened consciousness can imagine cosmic storms but knows that they cannot upset the equilibrium of the universe.  These words should be a reminder of our calmness, which is based upon long experience and in which collaboration plays an important part.  It reinforces every advance.
