Fukushima update

FILE - In this Feb. 23, 2017, file photo, an employee walks past storage tanks for contaminated water at the tsunami-crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant of the Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) in Okuma town, Fukushima prefecture, Japan. Massive amounts of radiation-contaminated water that has been processed and stored in hundreds of tanks at the plant are hindering decommissioning work and pose a safety risk in case another massive quake or tsunami strikes. TEPCO needs to release the water - which contains radioactive tritium that is not removable but considered not harmful in small amounts - into the Pacific Ocean, TEPCO's new Chairman Takashi Kawamura said. The 2011 Tsunami, which killed 16,000 people, also disabled the emergency generators at Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.  This meant the cooling systems were not active when the reactors shut down. Tthe tsunami probably shortcircuited the cooling system pumping power. -r)   https://www.healthnutnews.com/cbs-777000-tons-of-fukushima-radioactive-is-getting-dumped-in-the-pacific-ocean/

The amount of radioactive water at Fukushima is still growing, by 150 tons a day.

11-27-17  The reactors are damaged beyond repair, but cooling water must be constantly pumped in to keep them from overheating.  That water picks up radioactivity before leaking out of the damaged containment chambers and collecting in the basements….
Another government panel recommended last year that the utility, known as TEPCO, dilute the water up to about 50 times and release about 400 tons daily to the sea – a process that would take almost a decade to complete.  Experts note that the release of radioactive tritium water is allowed at other nuclear plants….

Some experts have proposed moving the tanks to an intermediate storage area, or delaying the release until at least 2023, when half the tritium that was present at the time of the disaster will have disappeared naturally.

There are 741 million people in the EU.  For years, their supranational government has been spending one fifth of their entire budget (!) on attempts to change the weather. Since that didn’t work, they are going to spend more.   http://joannenova.com.au/2018/05/climate-change-is-one-quarter-of-the-eus-reason-for-being-25-of-total-spending/
