2.4.20. It is time to do away with the imperfection of matter. For this the people must become conscious of the Spirit; otherwise the general condition tends to reduce the individual possibilities to its own level, as the waves of the ocean preserve a common rhythm.
2.10.6. The human mechanism is complex--a special conscious evolution. From the moment of inception of consciousness there is no common evolution. All is constructed upon an infinite variety of species. General laws are established with difficulty. Even such basic and immutable laws as the law of perfection and the law of compensation cannot be expressed by a single formula.
3.4.6. I shall specify the qualities distinctive in those seeking the Common Good. First--constancy of striving. Second--ability of containment, for poor is he who denies but the seeker of truth is worthy to work for general good. Third--ability to labor, because the majority do not know the value of time. Into these words I also charge ascended master understanding from our octave that they may be able to illumine all mankind much more quickly concerning the oneness of all life. Just so do our little Pearls going forth each week through the channels of the postal service bless and expand the humble offerings of service from the lives of many common people in those channels, making thereof a divinely ordered service of great magnitude, although the lifestreams so blessed may be wholly unaware that they are either receiving such a gift or are such an important part of our divine and eternal scheme of things.
So in thinking of the postal department in the light of the Christmas season, just think of the thousands and thousands of delight-bringing packages and envelopes which will be physically handled, carried, and delivered by these enlargers of the common life who carry our words to you. Just think of the many children’s eyes which will shine at the opening of packages as well as the comfort and gladness which expands everywhere at this season because mankind’s thoughts and feelings go forth in love from heart to heart. So should it be every day of the year!

4) The so-called common status of mankind--that life which all are given in common among men--must be stepped up to fulfill the fiat of the divine ones who govern and direct the atmosphere of spiritual progress for the planet Earth! I am well aware as are the other members of the great cosmic councils of the smothering lethargy which like a fog swirls about the children of men until they seem caught in an involved emotional whirlpool from which escape may seem impossible.

5) The so-called ignorant fishermen, the common men, who harkened to my call, “COME, FOLLOW THOU ME!” were not of lesser intelligence than their contemporaries who remained bound by the roots of tradition to false systems based on human knowledge alone. Unable to respond to the voice of truth, which in every age waits to lead men beyond the veil into the holy path of discipleship, the ignorant sat in the seat of convention to scorn the childlike simplicity expressed by those who came to be counted among the faithful. 6) The great forerunners who have made possible spiritual achievement in every age have been men and women whose power of vision have enabled them to challenge the concepts of the mass mind and enter into the advanced thought of the Brothers of Light and the spiritual Hierarchy. Thereby they no longer run riot in the manner of the common herd but stand as tall trees upon the hillsides and mountains of the world, exemplary spires of spiritual fortitude, content to point the way toward the untrammeled heights of holiness, which in reality are the country of God.

10) When Paul said “To be carnally minded is death” he revealed a great mystery to those who were able to understand it. Owing to the computerized nature of the subconscious and its assimilation of multifractioned concepts not in keeping with the immaculate concepts of the soul, and owing to the fact that the human identity is in the process of transmuting base error, it is not ready to assume the role of the living God in man or to put on the vestments of Reality. Nevertheless it is a common fallacy for man to think that he can, even as it is a common practice for the human ego to masquerade as the divine….
The consciousness of each individual was created to be a part of the universal treasure lode. In its common sharing of the triune light, it does not lose its luster, but gains more. 11) Enter then the heart at Shamballa. Enter into my being that we might be one in a flame that is our common origin, our common destiny. The effort then becomes great enough to make you set down that excess baggage. And of course this is the point--to come to the realization that the greatest need the individual has is light. It is the commodity in which most of mankind are poor. It is a common poverty, beloved--rich in the goods of this world, poor in the light of the Spirit. Desiring to see the face of God and the Beloved impels one to invoke light, to be light, to take action in the light, to overcome in the light--to ascend therefore and follow the ascending.

13) The point of origin in matter is not nearly so key in this hour as the point of return in Spirit. Thus there is a common denominator that you share, and that common denominator is the deep desiring of the soul to realize more than the human potential.
Be not envious of those who have used their sacred fire and their light to aggrandize that human potential, but think, beloved, of the hidden man of the heart who is strong in your breast and who is thy real Self. Think then of achievement and measure it by the increase of reality and the waxing strong of the hidden man of the heart until you are that man, that manifestation.
Thus this common denominator you share is a deep, deep inner memory. [And] come what may, [whatever] would encircle you, [whatever] the remarks and the calls of those whom you know there is that longing, there is that depth of being that truly is one with the bedrock of the reality of God synchronized with the very planetary body itself.
You come then with a common memory of the violet flame, the mystery schools, Maitreya, going forth therefrom--being lost, being found, being lost, being found again, tripping over your garments, tumbling into the mud, taking lifetimes to clear those records and yet always inside, the burning desire, the burning desire for the return.
