The vitriolic attacks on Ford dredged up memories of how Chessy’s peers bullied and ostracized her

9-27-18    Eisen, WH ethics chief under Obama, tweeted. "#1 rule of my own 25 years at the bar:  it makes all the difference when a witness is telling truth."   https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/408831-ex-white-house-ethics-chief-kavanaugh-testimony-a-taste-of-his

My daughter Chessy Prout was a freshman at St. Paul’s School, a prep school in New Hampshire, when senior Owen Labrie sexually assaulted her in a locked mechanical room in 2014.  In spite of progress we have made with #MeToo and #IHaveTheRightTo, it appears that rape culture and its playbook are still very much alive in our culture.
Like most victims, Chessy struggled with guilt, shame, and blame.  Chessy initially didn’t have the language to describe what happened to her as assault, nor did she understand it was against the law.  In the days after, girls approached Chessy and told her that Labrie had done the same thing to them....
The prep school alumni who signed a letter blindly defending Kavanaugh reminded me of the St. Paul’s parents and alumni who helped raise $100,000 for Labrie’s legal defense.  The vitriolic attacks on Ford dredged up memories of how Chessy’s peers bullied and ostracized her, because she had the audacity to call out a powerful student with a bright future.   https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2018/09/26/chessy-prout-mother-know-what-christine-blasey-ford-going-through/f3TOVbDT1vcge4tfipzCAM/story.html?p1=Article_Recommended_ReadMore_Pos4

10-30-15  Before the sentencing, the victim - who was 15 at the time - said in a videotaped statement said she was subjected to verbal and physical retaliation from other students after her return to St. Paul's and has been living in "near constant fear" since the assault.

Labrie's arrest exposed a tradition at the $55,290-a-year boarding school called Senior Salute, in which upperclassmen kept score of how many younger students they had sex with.  The national media attention the case attracted tarnished the reputation of the exclusive school, whose alumni include Secretary of State John Kerry, former FBI Director Robert Mueller, at least 13 U.S. ambassadors and three Pulitzer Prize winners.  Labrie could have gotten 11 years in prison.   https://www.wcvb.com/article/owen-labrie-gets-jail-probation-in-sex-assault-case/8228146

9-13-18   While jurors found Labrie guilty of statutory rape, they acquitted him of the more serious felony-level sexual assault charges....
For years, a toxic culture of sexual abuse has festered at St. Paul’s, and it’s important that the details of long-held traditions and games of sexual conquest be exposed, Alex Prout said.   https://www.concordmonitor.com/Oral-arguments-NH-Supreme-Court-Owen-Labrie-20060671
