inside the mideast turmoil

10-18-18   In a speech to Turkish religious officials in Ankara on Monday,  President Erdoğan said:  “Turkey is the only country that can lead the Muslim world.”…A war of regional hegemony erupted between two Sunni camps:  Turkey and Qatar on one side, and Saudis, Egyptians and Emiratis on the other.
When Khashoggi interviewed Erdoğan in 2016 the two men had already developed a warm relationship.
(Khashoggi was) advocating for the Islamist Al-Islah Party, which was blacklisted by the Saudi government because of its ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, opened another and possibly fatal front….
Two private jets owned by Sky Prime Aviation, which belongs to the Saudi government, took off from Atatürk Airport that same day.  One of them carried six high-level Saudi security personnel headed to Cairo, and the other took seven people to Dubai.      -Tolga Tanis, former Washington, D.C., correspondent for the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet   https://www.yahoo.com/news/khashoggi-case-battle-leadership-islamic-world-141709338.html

Another companion, Fatih Oke, of Istanbul’s Arab Media Association, said Khashoggi was an important adviser to the group and “we had plans to establish some projects.”…    Khashoggi’s ancestors lived in what is today central Turkey.  The family’s name means spoon-maker and its Turkish spelling is “Kasikci.”  https://www.haaretz.com/middle-east-news/turkey/jamal-khashoggi-viewed-turkey-as-a-base-for-a-new-middle-east-1.6575161

3-13-2018  According to MEMRI's well-documented post, the article's key points came from the website of Turkey's SADAT International Defense and Consulting Company, which promotes pan-Islamic military cooperation.
SADAT was founded by President Erdogan's senior military advisor,
Adnan Tanriverdi (middle figure above).  The group provides information on "conventional and unconventional defense and warfare.”  Its mission statement envisions helping "the Islamic world take its rightful place among the superpowers.”    https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/israel/2018/march/erdogans-vision-army-of-islam-to-destroy-israel

3-16-2018  The man who fashions himself as the new sultan of a revived Ottoman Empire has big dreams, and one of them could well be to build an Islamic army against the state of Israel.
The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reports its the brainchild of one of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's closest advisors, and it looks like a blueprint for an Islamic military action against Israel.
CBN News has covered that MEMRI report which comes from a Turkish newspaper closely allied to Erdoğan and his ruling party.    https://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/israel/2018/march/islamic-sultan-rising-why-turkeys-plan-to-destroy-israel-could-line-up-with-end-times-prophecy

3-21-2018    Less than a month ago, in advance of the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, the Turkish daily Yeni Şafak, which is considered one of the mouthpieces of Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), published an article entitled “A Call for Urgent Action.”  The same article was also published on the newspaper’s website with the more explicit title, “What if an Army of Islam was Formed Against Israel?”    https://www.jpost.com/Blogs/Above-the-Fray/Army-Of-Islam-Erdogans-Plot-Against-Israel-546704

2016.  President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, after the July 15 coup attempt, retired Brigadier General Adnan Tanrıverdi, the founder of SADAT, has been appointed as the Chief Advisor of the President.
SADAT, which has been on the agenda with the most controversial issues before, came up with the claims that it had armed and trained Syrian and foreign militants.    According to CNN TÜRK, Tanriverdi, who was retired in 1996, became Erdogan's new top consultant.  After his retirement, Mr. Adnan Tanriverdi served as the chairman of the Association of Justice Advocates for 5 years.
Tanriverdi founded Sadat International Defense Consultancy Company to serve in the provision of maintenance and repair services for training and warfare, weapons and vehicles.
Adnan Tanriverdi, who previously worked for Zaman (now Yeni Akit) newspaper, began investigating the relationship with Odatv since 2008.    https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=tr&u=https://odatv.com/erdogan-akitin-ozel-harpci-generalini-danisman-yapti-1608161200.html&prev=search
