Calmness of heart means firmness and unfalteringness.

200.  One can strike the hydra of ignorance only with a blow unfamiliar to it.  It is the yogi's duty to learn to strike unfailingly.
511.  One must overcome the limitations of conventional ideas.  It is difficult to resist sinking into the ordinary, for the impelling motion of evolution which involves all aspects of existence is always strangely unfamiliar and does not resemble the past.       -M:  Agni Yoga 1929

379.   Calmness of heart means firmness and unfalteringness.  Through this understanding one can reach the tension that leads to nirvana.  But how many steps must one cross courageously in order to realize unfalteringness of heart.
559.  By a very simple command of the heart one can force oneself not to hear or see; thus one can learn to pass by the very horrors of the lowest spheres.  One must make this quality one's own, for otherwise much of the protective net will be unnecessarily destroyed.  Preservation of the precious essence is also one of the tasks of the yogi.     -M:  Heart 1932

116.  It is difficult to evaluate an individual over and above all conventionalities, but devotion to Service will open one's eyes and enable one to perceive very clearly the seed of the spirit.  -M:  Aum 1936

381.  Tolerance is a fundamental necessity for evolution.  Every sign of tolerance must be valued.  We ourselves could not help people without the highest degree of tolerance.  All one's inner fire of enthusiasm must be used for the common good, for dull indifference is most deadly.  Truly fierce opposition is often more justified than unfeeling indifference.
403.  Just as a small stone produces a small splash an unfeeling heart cannot be effective against darkness.  But occasionally on a day of remembrance even such a heart will know how dark is the traitor.      -Morya:  Supermundane 2, 1938
