1) As a young man Mark received all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and he continued his spiritual path through the years when he was in the United States Air Force during World War II.
My childhood was similar in that all I wanted to know about when I was a child was God. And when my parents couldn't give me enough I would ask my friends to take me to their churches. I loved devotion. I loved Jesus. I loved the saints. I loved God.
And I thought that all people walked and talked with God and Jesus Christ as I did. But I found out when I was about 20 that a lot of people do not and that they have not had that intimate experience with the Lord.
As early as I could read I was reading the Bible. And as I would read the Bible alone in my room I would ask Jesus what certain passages meant. And my Lord would answer me and give me the teachings of the deeper mysteries of God.
And when I would go to church and hear the wonderful pastors preaching their sermons Jesus would explain to me that they had not been given the full teaching that he had given and that this teaching must be brought forth again in this time, 2,000 years later. I wondered how that would come about and how he would bring that teaching to the world, which the people must have in these critical times.
We regard the saints in heaven as those who have graduated from earth's schoolroom, whom God has received. They are the other stones - "lively stones.” We call them Ascended Masters, whereas Christians call them saints. We do not worship the Ascended Masters, however we recognize that they are our elder brothers and sisters and that they can help us on the path of life….I differ with orthodox Christianity in that I teach karma and reincarnation, that the soul is a continuum, that we have lived before from the beginning with God and shall continue by his grace.
So I see our divine plan outpicturing itself in succeeding episodes and I see the bodies we wear simply as coats. And this is how Hierarchy ought to be counted in this order.
Beloved Kuthumi has called you to the Order of the Brothers and Sisters of Francis and Clare. Understand that striving in this order, whether through the path of the brahmacharya or the path of the householder and the family member, must be pursued with the goal in mind of the attainment of the mantle of Christ--of the “occupying till I come.” Do you understand?...
It is necessary then that the decision-making process--the listening to the Word, the execution of the Word, the action of the Word--become the goal of those chelas striving to move from their centeredness in the violet-flame-transmutation level to the point of personal Christhood....
Now I trust you will understand that it is necessary for those striving in this order of Hierarchy to volunteer and apply to become what we will call Elders of the Church--Elders then applying as a word that refers to the elder brothers and sisters who are the ascended masters.

16) Big mistake: Due Process now officially removed from Church policy
While we are discussing procedure, can I ask, what about using Due Process as the foundation for addressing matters of conflict and discipline? As Americans and as longtime students of our Teachings, you on the Ministerial Council are of course familiar with the concept of Due Process under the Law, as enshrined in our constitution by the Founding Fathers.
I note that just yesterday, as I was sitting at my computer finalizing this letter to be sent to you, an e-mail announcement from Church headquarters about newly revised Articles of Incorporation was issued. In this announcement we learn that Due Process will definitely have no place in the new governing documents of the Church and that your Resolution Process will now be exclusively used in dealing with Church disputes.
Due Process was a gift from our Founding Fathers
I think blocking the use of Due Process, and substituting your Resolution Process, is a mistake. Many people find this sort of discussion arcane, but the issues here were critically important to our Founding Fathers, and should not be passed over lightly by us.
Not long separated from the persecutions of the Old World, these noble souls (some of whom we now revere as Ascended Masters) were deeply taken up with the rights of an accused person. They knew only too well what a common thing it was for those wielding power to abolish the rights of the accused, such obvious rights as the right to be properly heard with witnesses and an impartial hearing, and the right to have one’s case decided not by administrators or judges but by peers in a neutral position. In short, they understood that Due Process was indispensable to maintaining our sacred freedoms, and made sure it was enshrined as a prominent component of America’s Constitution.
The Messenger endorsed Due Process for our use
Tellingly, just a few short years ago, while our Beloved Mother of the Flame was still active and involved in the administration of our organization, Due Process was made an essential fixture for the new era we were entering in our Church. You will certainly recall that Due Process was published as the standard for resolving conflicts in the Church’s NEW CULTURE HANDBOOK, issued in 1998, and was given prominence at the time in statements by the Messenger, by President Cleirbault and even in dictations by various of the Masters.
Incredibly, and without adequate explanation to our membership, Due Process was purged from the Handbook. Now, just yesterday, December 30, 2004, we find that Due Process is, once and for all, eliminated (might I say, excommunicated? ) from the policies and practices of our Church. In its place Church leaders have now officially substituted the “Resolution Process,” your own device and one never reviewed, much less sanctioned, by the Messenger.

17) You argue that the Church must use due process because the founding fathers, government & American law use due process. However, we are a Church & are not meant to be governed by the same legalistic process that is necessary for a government in a free country.
You also assert that the Ascended Masters in dictations have endorsed due process "for us." You write, "I can only repeat & plead, really, return to Due Process! For all of our sakes. The Ascended Masters themselves have sponsored it for us." However, in all dictations [...] & the single occurrence of this phrase in the Pearls of Wisdom, "due process" is merely part of the full phrase "due process of time." In not one of these texts is there any reference to "due process" in the sense of a legal procedure or any other deliberative process. Therefore, to say that Masters are sponsoring due process for us, implying that they are directing us to have the legalistic due process in our Church[,] is inaccurate & misleading.

Regarding signing the Ministerial Covenant, as you specify in your letter of May 8, 2006, I have done that.
The Ministerial Covenant in its original form was composed and approved by a quorum of ordained ministers of the Church in 1998. I signed the Covenant at that time, and I have lived faithfully by its tenets to this day.
You have changed the legitimate and authorized Ministerial Covenant by unilaterally adding a provision that you yourselves are over all of the other ministers in our Church. Neither the Messenger nor a quorum of ministers in our Church has ever delegated this authority to you, as I pointed out to you in the detailed letter I sent to you on December 31, 2004.
I therefore stand by the original and lawful Ministerial Covenant.
