Pletcher's legal troubles began on May 23, when Neyda Osorio told Plantation police officers that he had pulled her over, yelled profanity and racial slurs, then stole her cellphone after he realized she was using the phone to record the incident. He was placed on paid leave the next day.  http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/crime-law/state-prosecutor-wants-dna-of-broward-sheriffs-d-1/nLh5S/

On Tuesday, after a Broward jury found him guilty of battery, he could have been sentenced to a maximum 364 days in jail for the first-degree misdemeanor.
Instead, he got three days...The state's key piece of evidence was a 21-second recording of Pletcher demanding that Neyda Osorio turn over her cellphone or go to jail.
Osorio testified that Pletcher pulled her over on May 23, 2011, yelled profanities, gave her the finger and flicked her green card in her face. Pletcher was off-duty and out of uniform, but armed and driving his patrol car.
When he realized he was being recorded, he grabbed her cell phone out of her purse while restraining her with one arm, Osorio said. Plantation police later found the phone and were able to retrieve the recording.  http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/pompano-beach/fl-pletcher-trial-verdict-20141014-story.html
