following an historic thread
Inner or self- government has to do with degrees of awareness, also called tuning, consciousness, sensitivity, mystical understanding and oneness. The urge of mankind to evolve relates alot to the role that mankind has in the larger scheme of things, that role having to do with reason or the fundamental logic or christic light, true reason. This is ancient then and sometimes quite forgotten in some eras on the Earth. There can be a block in understanding where, for example, the use of zero in math is not understood. Then someone or a group decide to address the gap or glitch.
By the time of Francis Bacon (1561-1626) the Renaissance was spreading northward and toward Russia as well, even worldwide, slowly arcing toward the Americas and carried in worldwide trade. The players were mainly Dutch, English, French and the Iberian pair, with the others like Italian beginning to be surpassed by these dynamic groups who were more or less a second or third wave from the earlier Italian Renaissance. Francis Bacon’s era was pivotal then in this unfolding dramatic procss that later crystallized into USA, Canada and the various American "new world" groups. So it appears that the four predominant players did use the Caribbean stepping-stone and they also used the Portuguese route around Africa toward Asia—these four were Dutch, English, French and the Iberians primarily, cutting the way, making monopoly deals often, establishing forts or trading posts and so forth. This is quite a dramatic phase.
Around 1798 the French under Napoleon paid a visit to the Great Pyramid and to northern Egypt; that is, amid much rivalry and little or no plain way to resolve matters of friction other than attempts at diplomacy.
Some realize that the Bacon family were prominent in Elizathean days in a sector called diplomacy which even then included secret intelligence. We might now say that intelligence sometimes includes diplomacy, it is an overlap area. Bacon the child was raised in a key family, Nicholas Bacon was Keeper of the Royal Seal of England in that period and so knew some languages, had a library, had connections and was trusted to not say very much in public. He was on the privy council of Elizabeth the Queen.
Anyway, the general framework of language, ideas, understanding, unfoldment and even direction toward excellence—these are facets held in the general culture/development of humanity and can be used in a classical manner or mainline manner for progressive development of humanity. The emblems of high office in one country or another end up having something to do with the common benefit, well-being, and have often been claimed to be tied to, say, God or science or empire or outlook or psychologic-stance . Nevertheless, life moves along on a number of frequencies of which man’s part is more or less one frequency of a larger dynamic, sometimes called the cosmos and sometimes probaby referred to as the Mystery, or what it is all about.
The idea of teamwork, of common sense, of sharing in a process of live and let live, of freedom, of understanding rather than a process centered on greed or local advantage to some special interest group—this is not a new idea. This is ancient stuff, sometimes ignored or mocked but neverthesess archetypal, more or less accepted as sound reason. There are many debates and yet a rather trial and error process can be noted historically, more accurately referred to as cause and effect, as I have heard it called. That is, there are very likely traceable roots within the realm of idea or principle. In some way philosophy is a kind of mother to the sciences. The Greeks of old called memory the mother of the muses. If one’s memory is jumbled, I suppose one can find reference points of some sort to help clear or act as tonic or purging in order that one may get to a clearer angle of view. It may not however always be easy to achieve a clear angle, and so we may be reminded to take courage, take patience, watch, wait, pray, bathe in silence, etc.
I think the four-faceted influence of Dtuch, Iberian, English and French is archetypal. In electricity the watt, ampere, volt and ohm make a kind of reference scheme or base. Yes, the pyramid of a stable base that rises to a point or capstone, this is archetypal, a geometric notion which would be called a pure idea by Plato. The notion that order can be wrought out of chaotic-like factors is a crucial notion. Call it perspective, clarity, vision, insight— these factors describing a higher awareness, all components of a higher awareness, a step forward in life, perhaps a place to stand as Archimedes put it where one may move the world. To discover something of truth is potent, may well be part of the governing or moving the world in its cycles of development.
A Newtonian principle could be a point of initiation as flashpoint. But these individuals are very often quiet types who for whatever reason inquire more deeply into something like the prism and prismatic light, inquiring more thoroughly than the layman. It is perhaps a quest, a need that such an inquirer feels more constantly than laymen whose urge may center more on individual survival, for example. But there is group or species or life survival too. That probably comes about after one goes through some degree of personal trial and error and may even depend upon inspiration or higher forces of destiny that operate past man's regular level of awareness. Jeanne d'Arc perhaps felt the plight of common Frenchmen more deeply than the ordinary individual. Perhaps she answered the cry of life that others found to be too contradictory to answer up to. She plays a very minor part in a Shakespearean play but yet her life poses in the play the riddle to Englishmen: did we kill a saint? Typical of Shakespeare, his lips are sealed as to a plain answer while his keen observations and dramatic touches make us wonder. That was his art. He was saying that man more or less must at times wonder and ponder and walk in the wind.
