in our organization, being a communicant of Church Universal and Triumphant means a step-up in initiation and sponsorship from that of a Keeper of the Flame. A Keeper of the Flame is sponsored by Saint Germain; a communicant (who must also be a 
Keeper of the Flame) receives the sponsorship of Jesus and Gautama as well as Saint Germain. 
Guru Ma to staff, 5-25-1985:  If this Church or organization or community ever ceases to function as the focus on earth of that master-disciple hierarchical chain of the Great White Brotherhood, it will lose its sponsorship and cease to exist.    
Therefore, in an effort to run the organization judiciously without the messenger in the physical to provide guidance and intervention, it is of ultimate importance to establish a system of checks and balances which will ensure that officeholders are using their mantles properly for the benefit of all chelas associated with The Summit Lighthouse.

(The blueprint team’s) research of the teachings shows that deciding upon a clear framework that accurately represents the organization’s nature (including its standards) will only be valid if it meets the following criteria: 
It is consciously decided upon rather than arrived at through circumstantial forces and developments.
It is based on solid research.
It is adapted wisely to our current situation, to the best of our knowledge and ability.
It is espoused wholeheartedly by leadership.
It is clearly and regularly communicated to the membership and those considering membership.
It is incorporated into the principles and practices of The Summit Lighthouse.
Strategies to Sustain Organizational Sponsorship
After careful study and deliberation of the blueprint team’s research, the elders and board of directors have determined that the organization must do everything in its power to retain our heritage as a mystery school. The critical question is: How do we sustain the masters’ sponsorship of the organization in the absence of a physically active Guru? The answer lies in looking at what we have done thus far to qualify as a mystery school and then implementing several key strategies that we believe can help us retain that sponsorship:
• Cultivate the concept that not only the masters and messengers are the Gurus but that the teachings themselves take on

the role of the Guru…. 
           Find an appropriate and inspiring way to incorporate the concept of hierarchy into daily organizational functioning.
Have a clear delineation of standards for life in the mystery school.
Sustain a critical mass of devotees—a committed mandala— who uphold the standards, thereby holding the balance of energy and light as an anchor point for the work of the ascended masters.
•        Raise up well-trained leadership who demonstrate deep understanding, internalization and application of the teachings.
Provide thorough education and mentoring to help members understand and apply the path of initiation and personal Christhood.
Provide for the transmission of the teachings to future genera- tions.
Provide meaningful avenues for participation, spiritual growth, and contribution of people’s gifts and talents.
Uphold and teach the law of the tithe.
Cultivate an organization-wide culture of charity and compas- sion within which the principles of chelaship and initiation can be taught and practiced in a positive, inspiring and nurturing way.
Promote Holy Orders as a way in which spiritual principles can be practiced and standards can be upheld.
Always ask El Morya for guidance.

To this end, the elders and board of directors are confident that once the organization begins to implement the strategies for maintaining sponsorship, we will experience a renewed sense of unity that reflects a clear identity and dedication to fulfill the reason for being of The Summit Lighthouse.
